Example of an Operating Voltage Range Diagram for Power & Telecom Relays

Minimum voltage UI
The lowest permissible input voltage at which the relay operates reliably at the reference temperature even after continuous energization (preenergizing) and brief de-energizing.

Maximum voltage UII
The highest permissible input voltage at the reference temperature at which the relay, with continuous energization, heats up to its max. permissible coil temperature.

The operating voltage limits UI and UII are dependent on the temperature according to the formulae:

UI tamb = kI x UI and UII tamb = kII x UII

tamb= Ambient temperature

UI tamb = Minimum voltage at ambient temperature, tamb

UII tamb = Maximum voltage at ambient temperature, tamb

kI and kII = Factors
(dependent on the temperature),
